My career spans banking and finance, sales, and the building of multiple businesses from the ground up into multi-million-pound operations. I have raised companies through every stage of their growth, learned where they tend to break, and carried the responsibility when they did. The lessons that shaped me did not come from a classroom; they came from payroll that had to be met, decisions that could not be deferred, and the quiet discipline of running things that other people depend on.
Today I am an active shareholder and director across five businesses, working in risk management, facilities, security, compliance, property and training. That is not a portfolio I describe in the past tense. When I advise a business, I draw on what I am living through, the same pressures and trade-offs my clients face, faced from the same side of the table. It means the counsel I offer is current, practical, and grounded in real consequence rather than theory.
I started my career in business banking, working directly with SME owners and directors. That period gave me a close understanding of capital, cash flow and risk, and the decisions that determine whether a business grows or stalls. It also gave me a clear view of what separates businesses that scale from those that stay stuck.
I went on to build and scale several companies from nothing into multi-million-pound operations, with large teams and complex operations across multiple service lines. Every one of those experiences, including the hard lessons, informs how I work with clients today. I am currently an active shareholder and director across five businesses operating in different sectors, which means the advice I give is grounded in what is happening in the real world right now, not just what worked in the past.
Through Exec Consultancy, I work with a select number of UK businesses on strategy, governance, risk and financial leadership. I have sat where you are sitting. I know what good decisions look like under pressure, and I know what poor ones cost.
If anything I have said resonates with your situation, the most useful next step is a short, no-pressure conversation. I will give you a candid view, you will get a clear sense of whether working together makes sense, and neither of us will have wasted the other's time.
As someone actively running businesses across several sectors, I understand that your time is limited and every decision carries real weight. I do not believe in drawn-out onboarding or lengthy discovery processes for their own sake. My approach is direct, structured and focused on getting to the right answers quickly.
Seven things nobody tells you about scaling a business. A short guide I wrote for founders and owner-managers, drawn from 25 years of building, leading and delivering across multiple industries. No frameworks, no theory. Just the observations I wish someone had shared with me when things first started getting harder instead of easier.
If you have a specific challenge you are working through, or simply want to explore whether there is a fit, get in touch directly. I handle all enquiries personally and will come back to you within one business day.
